KESTREL HOUSE (17-3/4"h x 9-1/4"w x 11"d) The American Kestrel cannot excavate its own cavity and depends on finding the larger nest holes of woodpeckers for a nesting place. Since these are in short supply. the kestrel population is often dependent upon nesting boxes. Included is an interior perch so the mother and babies can keep a sharp eye for their next meal. The house should be placed in an open area. such as in a meadow or along a highway. Wood chips are included. As with all our nest boxes. the design includes appropriate ventilation. drainage and opens for easy clean-out. Sustainably grown 1" thick Eastern White Pine provides superior insullation.
